Arts and entertainment venue DIY Disco will close its doors at the end of the month, the company announced on social media on Friday.
Former mechanical engineer Chloe McMahon founded DIY Disco in late 2022 To turn her love of crafting, party planning, and color into an artistic haven for the Mid-City community.
The business was part of a wave of activities — such as ax throwing, wine and painting, and crafts — that opened across the city after the pandemic. The store offered more than a dozen craft projects for patrons to complete while sipping cocktails.
The business, which will close after White Light Night, will be for sale this month, according to the announcement.
“This post feels very surreal to write, because it strays so far from what I’ve been working on for the past five years of my life,” McMahon wrote on Instagram. “I loved what we created for the Baton Rouge community, and I had a great time running the disco, but it’s time to end this great season.”
